Genesis 26:1-5
And there was a famine in the land, beside the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went unto Abimelech king of the Philistines unto Gerar.
2 And the Lord appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of:
3 Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father;
4 And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed;
5 Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.
Yesterday we talked about how blessed we are to live in this great country of America. Our blessings have come from the faith and the backs or many that went before us. Again, now is NOT the time to give up or give in. Yes, there are many, many issues and problems in this country! Yes, most likely we caused them all because we took our eyes off of the Lord, however, now is not the time to start looking for another way, we need to stay focused and stay faithful to God!
In the text Isaac found himself in a mess! There was a great famine. He thought that he would just go back to Egypt until the famine was over. But the Lord had a different plan. “Dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of!” In other words, stay put! It may be hard but Im your God!” You may have to dig deep, but I know where you are this day! Stay here and trust me. Don’t look at all the issues around Isaac, look to me the author and the finisher of your faith!
Today, no matter what you are facing or going through! The same God that got you this far will see you through! Stay and trust! Keep your eyes on Him and watch Him work things out for your good and His glory! He is with you this day…. Stay put!!
